Silhouettes on ice

Disney on ice
8.00 am. A perfect winter’s day today. Minus 10 C with glorious sunshine. A crunchy layer of snow like Royal Icing on a cake.
A day that really makes you happy to be alive.
The lake is 40 cm of solid ice. That’s quite a lot: imagine the ice reaching from your fingertips up to your elbow. Heck – if I had a bus I could drive it on the ice quite safely. Or land a plane on it – like someone did a couple of years ago. Quite an amazing sight.
Today, Oscar and I had the whole lake to ourselves. I ventured out into the middle and took this shot. You can see me on the right (just imagine if I really was this tall in real life, instead of being a gnome!), my spark (a large wooden seat with runners that you kick to move yourself across the ice and snow), and on the left is the dog.
What is a perfect day for you?
You can see a picture of me and my spark here.

Ladyfi I am a gnome too but I prefer to be called a hobbit.
I feel minus 10 to be extreme. I think the perfect day for me would be 26 degrees with clear skies and no wind whatsoever.

Wow, that made me inhale deeply when I saw that and I could almost feel the ice crystals in my nose. So fresh, so lovely xx

The spark sounds so freaking, wicked cool!! Maybe its the Canuck in me but a sledge designed to help you get across the ice is soooo cool!!!
(Yes, i’m lame. I can’t help it. It comes with teh passport.) :p

wow…….. but I need to see your “spark” at some point in “real life” so I figure out what the heck that is!
And my version of a perfect day has been today… moving so slowly…. leisurely breakfast with newspapers and loads of coffee…. and Albert curled up in one of our laps…
oh and not showering until AFTER 12.00!!!

Men var är det du bor?? Tio grader kallt och ute med spark?! Trodde du bodde i Stockholmsområdet?

I have a Spark at Stig’s parents house- haven’t brought it down yet and this is my second winter without it- mental note to myself- get the spark before next winter…
Looks like a gorgeous day there- same weather here- we’ve been out walking the doggies already after a lazy morning- then back for lunch of different cheeses, crackers, and salted meats, and orange slices. YUM.
Baking bread now also- I love days like this…enjoy the rest of your beautiful day Lady Fi!!!!

What a beautiful place and I loved your shadow. Imagine being that tall. It does sound wonderful to have all that vast space to yourself.
What is a perfect day? Each day as I wake up and think about the endless possibilities.
Thanks so much for sharing the great post and photos!

Great shadow play
I wish I were taller. I’m only 5’2″ and I’d like to be about 6″ taller and then I’d be slim

Oh Lady Fi!! What a darling picture of you and you Spark! And I can’t believe the ice is so thick. Just took a time out and told Grizzly about you and your husband so that he is up-to-date (somewhat) in my life.
It is pretty lovely here in California this a.m. Around 60 degrees F. We are jumping on the bicycles and heading out to breakfast. Wouldn’t it be fun if it was the four of us?! (((hugs to you today!))))

Nice picture, I had never heard of a ‘spark’ what a useful item to have. That ice is so thick.
Have lots of fun with that ‘spark’ rather than driving over it or landing a plane on it.

Either a book on a rainy day curled up on the settee, or a book on a sunny day lazing by the pool, with the occasional dip! perfick.

It is so hot over here. But felt cool upon seeing you in the snow.
Have a nice weekend.

I am a gnome as well … or, when I don’t shave the hair that sometimes grows on top of my feet (aaarrrggghhh!) a hobbit.
Love the photo .. and loved seeing the other picture of you! Didn’t have a mental image of you and now I do! You are cute! : )

Tall thin shadows always make you feel good! Great photo and the visual of the ice being from your finger tips to your arm pit were great. I can identify with your frozen world ..although you are a bit warmer than us. I think perhaps you should demonstrate how your Spark works, have Sir Pe take some photos!

I think it is simply TOO COOL that you are exploring the lake with your dog, on your spark. What a wonderful image I have in my head. I have many perfect days, several involving the beauty of the outdoors, fresh air, moving my body, and I imagine being on a frozen lake, with my dog and my spark would be one of them.

I love the photo.
A perfect day for me? Hiking on a gorgeous spring or fall day…complete with a picnic
